Holbrey Memorial

The memorial stone is set into the floor
inside St Cuthbert's Church.

It says-

BENEATH
are interred the mortal
remains of

WILLIAM HOLBREY
Incumbent of Syke House
And vicar of Barnby Dunn
He died on the 10th of May
Aged 45 Years
In the Year of the Nativity
1839
Also AMELIA
Daughter of the above
Aged 2 Years


Outside the church is a group
of HOLBREY family memorials,
this is one of them.

Holbrey Family Memorial

The inscriptions, which run around the edge of the stone, read:

In loving memory of Ella Hunter daughter of William Wilks and Hannah Broadley Hunter and Granddaughter of the late Rev. William Holbrey who died March 31st 1890

(west side of kerb)
In memory of James Holbrey son of the late William and Ann Holbrey died 10th of November 1854 aged 24 years

(east side of kerb)
In  memory of Ann Holbrey widow of the late Revd William Holbrey perpetual curate of Sykehouse died 13th of January 1877 aged 75 years
