The Spencer name occurs twice in our Langhorn line.
My grandfather married Martha Jane Spencer and his grandfather also married a Martha Spencer!
So far we have not seen any evidence of a link between these Spencer families.
Several male members of connected families have been given Spencer as a first or middle name.
First SPENCER line
My GreatGreatGrandmother's Spencers were from the Snaith area of the WRY which borders onto the ERY.
Edward Spencer(1747-1825) married Elizabeth Firth (1756-?) in Fishlake on 23 October 1780.

Second SPENCER line
My grandmother was born Martha Jane SPENCER.
Her line appears to be from the Leeds/Bradford area:
George Spencer (?-?) married Hannah Haley (?-?) on 11 Jul 1826 in Bradford.
At present we know little about their children other than John Spencer, Christened on 18 May 1827 in Bradford.
John Spencer (18 May 1827-1888+) married Elizabeth PARRATT(5 Nov 1827-1901+)
in Bradford at the Parish Church of St Peter's on 4 April 1848.
Elizabeth Parratt's parents were William Parratt and Hannah (nee Wilkinson).
Their known children were:

Edward Spencer, a 26 year-old widower, married Ann CLOUGH (1844-1901+), a widow in Birstal in May 1882.
Their first child was:
Martha Jane 1882-1937 she married Harry LANGHORN (my grandfather).
The 1901 census shows that Edward & Ann had another daughter Alice in about 1888.
